Description

Elm Cottages are two cottages built around 1865, with some 20th-century alterations. They are constructed of red brick, featuring stock brick and limestone ashlar dressings. The cottages have slate roofs with stone-coped gables that include kneelers, a stock brick gable stack, and a single ridge stack. There are two 20th-century fanlights in the roof.

The cottages are two stories high and have a three-bay front with a central gabled bay. The base is dressed with stock brick, and there are ashlar quoins and several horizontal stock brick bands. The central canted bay window has four narrow ashlar-dressed lights, flanked by single lights, all with segmental heads and plain sashes. To the left, there is a large window with five narrow ashlar-dressed lights, plain sashes, segmental heads, a raised central plaque featuring a trefoil and roundels, and an ashlar hood mould. On the right, there is a three-light ashlar-dressed mullion window with plain sashes and segmental heads, also with an ashlar hood mould.

Above the central window, there is a pointed three-light window with a central triangular-headed light flanked by taller pointed lights, all with plain sashes and a hood mould. A slit light is present in the gable above. The central window is flanked by single two-light ashlar-dressed windows with plain sashes and segmental heads.

To the right, there is a lean-to porch with a stone-coped gable and kneeler, featuring a pointed ashlar-dressed doorway with a plank door. To the left, there is another lean-to porch, although the gable has been removed; it has an ashlar-dressed doorway and a panelled door.
