Description
Moorfield House is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century and mid 19th century. It features coursed limestone rubble and red brick with painted ashlar dressings. The slate mansard roof has stone coped gables and three gable stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys tall with an attic. The three-bay brick front has a first-floor band and quoins.
The central doorway is framed by a semi-circular headed latticework porch and has a plain doorcase with a semi-circular head, a blank fanlight, and a panelled door. On either side of the doorway are single tripartite glazing bar sashes with serpentine lintels and raised keystones. Above, two similar windows flank a single glazing bar sash, all three featuring serpentine heads and raised keystones. There are also two dormer windows with slightly segmental heads and two-light casements.
The west wall, made of two bays of rubble, has a doorway to the left with a partially glazed door and a wooden lintel, followed by a three-light casement with a wooden lintel. Above this, there is a three-light casement and a 20th-century single light window to the right.
