Description

The Timbers consists of two matching pairs of estate cottages built around 1870. They are two storeys high and constructed from red brick, topped with black glazed pantiled roofs that feature deep eaves and fluted barge-boards. Each cottage has an internal chimney stack with three square shafts set diagonally on a rectangular base. There are three windows on each storey: two outer two-light windows and a single central window, all fitted with ornamental cast iron casements that have angular tracery. The end doors are sheltered by gabled, slated porches supported on heavy solid brackets, with barge-boards that match those on the gables. Additionally, there are lean-to extensions along the rear of the cottages.
