Description

The garden gateway to Gunby Hall, located on the west side, dates from 1700 and was likely repositioned around 1873. It features a red brick wall with an ashlar gateway and dressings, along with a wrought iron gate. The gateway is semi-circular headed and rusticated, complete with a plinth, key, and impost blocks. It is set within a brick wall that has a ramped moulded stone coped top, which is topped with a ball finial. The 19th-century scrolled wrought iron gate complements the structure. Paintings from the 18th century of Gunby Hall, which are held at the house, depict curved flanking walls on either side of the main front, each containing matching semi-circular headed gateways.
