Description
The White House is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of white painted brick and features a stone-coped tumbled gable. The roof is covered with pantiles and has 19th-century brick gable stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands two stories tall with a three-bay front. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door set within a rusticated brick surround, flanked by single glazing bar sash windows. The first floor has three similar windows, and all openings have segmental brick heads. A 19th-century pent roofed verandah supported by slender wooden columns extends across the front. Inside, the house retains a cast iron fireplace with classical decoration and a Delft tile insert, along with an eared and shouldered overmantle featuring classical decorations and a moulded cornice.
