This milestone, dating from the early 19th century, is located on the north side of Uppingham Road in Thurnby. It is made of stone, possibly slate, and is painted white with black lettering. The milestone is rectangular, approximately 1 meter high, featuring a cambered top and a slightly convex front. It is inscribed with the distances to Leicester (5 miles) and Uppingham (14 miles). The milestone stands near the driveway to Winkadale and is similar to two other milestones located on Uppingham Road in the parish of Houghton on the Hill.
