Description

Milestone located in Houghton on the Hill, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of stone, possibly slate, and is painted white with black lettering. The milestone is rectangular, approximately 1 meter high, with a cambered top and a slightly convex front. It is inscribed with the distances 'Leicester 6 : Uppingham 13'. The milestone stands about 20 meters to the right of a small lay-by. It is similar to two other milestones located on Uppingham Road in the parishes of Houghton and Thurnby.
