Description
Milestone located in Houghton on the Hill, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of stone, possibly slate, and is painted white with black lettering. The milestone is rectangular, approximately 1 meter high, with a cambered top and a slightly convex front. It is inscribed with the distances 'Leicester 7 : Uppingham 12'. There is a chip off the left corner. This milestone stands close to the driveway to 'Woodlands' and is similar to two other milestones on Uppingham Road in the parishes of Houghton and Thurnby.
