Description
This is a house located at 2 Main Street in Houghton on the Hill, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a Welsh slate roof with brick end stacks. The building has moulded brick eaves and a gable facing the front to the left. It stands 2½ storeys high and has three 6/6 sash windows, with the two on the ground floor having cambered lintels. The central entrance is framed by a wooden doorcase with a flat bracketed canopy, leading to a four-panelled door with glazed upper panels and a fanlight above. On the left end, there is an attic window with two lights, while the right end features a two-light casement window on the ground floor and another two-light window in the attic. Extending to the right along Main Street is a two-storey wing with an end stack, which includes a two-light horizontal sliding sash and a two-light casement, with two similar two-light sashes above, all having cambered lintels on the ground floor.
