Description

Granary Cottage and The Old Bakehouse are two dwellings, dating from the 18th century, with an addition from the early 19th century. The building was originally a granary and outbuilding, later converted to residential use in the 20th century. The main part of the building is constructed of red brick, with some areas rendered and a whitewashed front, and has roofs of Swithland and Welsh slate with brick ridges and stacks, the left and rear stacks being truncated.

The front elevation has two storeys, featuring four 3-light, centre-opening casement windows, the two on the right having cambered lintels. The ground floor has four 3-light horizontal sliding sash windows, also with top lights and cambered lintels, and a central 4-panelled stable-type door. Internally, chamfered beams are present. A two-storey brick outbuilding is located to the rear of the left range, containing two tie beam trusses with clasped principals. A further wing (15A) extends from the rear of the right range, constructed of colourwash rendered brick, with 20th-century casements, a door, and a side stack. The gable displays a tablet inscribed 'T.W.A. 1760'.
