Description
The Rectory is a house dated 1856, located in Houghton on the Hill. It is built of red brick with stone dressings and has a Welsh slate roof featuring brick ridges and side stacks. The gables are stone-coped with kneelers, and the building has an irregular composition with three gables. It stands 2½ storeys high and has five stone mullion sash windows.
On the left gable, there is a three-light window with a transom, a two-light window above it, and a small one-light window in the attic. The next gable to the right features a projecting lean-to porch with a doorway that has a four-centre arch and a crow-stepped gable above, which contains a stone tablet dated 1856. There is a one-light window on either side of the porch. Above the porch, there is a large three-light window with a transom for the staircase, along with a one-light window in the attic above.
To the right of the porch, there are three one-light windows, with a one-light and a two-light window above. The right gable has two-light windows on both floors and a one-light window in the attic. The Rectory is included for its group value.
