Description
This is a house located at 48 Main Street in Houghton on the Hill, dating from around 1800 but with earlier origins. It features colourwashed brick with a rubble stone plinth and part of the walling, topped by a roof made of Welsh and Swithland slate, which has three colourwashed brick ridge stacks. The structure consists of a long range with two builds and stands two storeys high. The front has a mix of windows, including a 2-light and two 3-light centre-opening casements. On the ground floor, from the left, there is a carriageway opening, a 1-light plank door with a flat canopy, and three 3-light centre-opening casements, with the last two having top lights. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing. Inside, the house features chamfered beams and an inglenook. This building is included for its group value.
