Description
Manor Farm is a house located in Houghton on the Hill, dating from the early 18th century. It was raised by one storey in the early 19th century and features a 17th-century rear wing. The building is constructed of red brick with a rubble stone plinth and has a Welsh slate roof with brick end stacks. It has a band and brick dentilled eaves. The front elevation consists of three storeys with three 2-light wooden mullion and transom windows, and there are two blocked windows in between. The ground floor has four similar windows and a central door with a 10-pane overlight, all beneath tall gauged brick lintels that touch the band. On the second floor, there are three 2-light casements. To the left end, there is a 1.5-storey extension with a Swithland slate roof and additional casements. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing with a rubble stone ground floor and a timber-framed first floor, featuring one bay with three 2-square panels supported by braces and brick nogging, topped with a Swithland slate roof. There is also a one-storey lean-to in the angle between the ranges and a small section of rubble stone walling above.
