Description
The Staff of Life Public House is an early 19th-century public house located on High Street in Ticknall. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof with brick gable stacks and a sawtooth eaves cornice. The building has two and three storeys, with the east elevation displaying a layout of three plus two bays.
The central part of the building is double fronted and consists of three storeys. There are three steps leading up to a central doorway that has a segmental head and a raised and fielded panelled door. This doorway is flanked by three-light segment-headed casement windows. On the first floor, there are two similar windows on either side of a larger two-flight window. The second floor features three similar windows, all set under flat arches.
To the right, there is a two-storey range. The ground floor includes a three-light segment-headed window, a blocked doorway, another three-light segment-headed window, and a segment-headed doorway that has a 20th-century half-glazed door. Above, there is one flat-arched two-light window.
