Description
The Chequers Inn is a public house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed from rubblestone, brick, and render, all of which are painted. The building features a plain tile roof with a central stack.
The west elevation has a tall chamfered plinth, a moulded band at the first floor, and a cornice. The structure is two storeys high and consists of three bays. There is a step up to an off-centre doorway, which has a moulded wooden doorcase topped with a bracketed hoodmould. The entrance is a panelled door, flanked by 3-light casements that have thin moulded surrounds and are set under keyed and channelled wedge lintels. Above, there are three similar 2-light windows, with the centre window featuring a small face in relief.
