Description

This is a farm outbuilding known as the cowhouse, located to the southwest of Ash Lane Farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century, with later additions. The building is constructed from coursed rubble coal measures sandstone and has a 20th-century corrugated sheet roof. It is a single-storey structure featuring two plain doorways and two window openings that combine louvre and fixed glazing. There is also a single taking in doorway at the apex of the south gable. Inside, the cowhouse contains a single cruck truss.
