Description

PARISH OF UNSTONE MOORTOP LANE SK 37 NE 6/186 Moortop Farmhouse II Farmhouse. Late C18, with late C19 alterations and additions. Regularly coursed squared coal measures sandstone with ashlar dressings, gable brick stacks and slate roof coverings. L-plan, with earlier range attached to north end of main range, a fragment of an extensive C18 house. East elevation. Three storeys, four bays, with stacked glazing bar sashes, those to the ground and first floors 4 x 3 panes, those to the second floor 2 x 3 panes all beneath plain lintels. One altered and one inserted window to the north end. Off-centre doorway with plain door and rectangular overlight and glazing bars. Earlier range. Two storeys, two bays, with stacked 3-light flush mullioned windows with glazing bars to the west end, and 2-light window to the east. Off-centre doorway obscured by pitched roofed single storey C20 half-glazed porch. Rear elevation of three storeyed range incorporates remains of C18 flush mullioned windows. The C18 farmhouse was substantial, and extended further to west.
