Description
Prospect House is a farmhouse dating from the mid 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and extensions added in the 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features quoins, a coped gable with moulded kneelers at the south end, and intermediate and end brick stacks. It has a plain tiled roof and an 'L' plan, with a lower two-storey range at the rear of the east end.
The south elevation is two storeys high and consists of four bays, with the west end being a 19th-century addition. The earlier two bays have 20th-century window frames set in surrounds that were once 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows, along with a tall inserted stair window to the east of the doorway, which has fixed and casement lights. The 19th-century bay features plain window openings and 20th-century joinery. The off-centre doorway has a shallow bracketed hood and a 20th-century door. The lower range to the north is partially roughcast and includes a 20th-century bow window and a doorway with a shallow bracketed hood.
