Description
Malthouse Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse constructed from coursed rubble coal measures sandstone, featuring quoins and coped gables with moulded kneelers. It has end ridge stacks made of brick and a plain tiled roof. The building has a double pile plan and stands three storeys tall with three bays. Originally, it had flush mullioned windows, but these have been altered to remove the mullions, now featuring 20th-century frames set in flush stone surrounds. The central doorway is framed by a moulded stone doorcase with a moulded cornice above and a plank door. The rear wall retains some 2-light flush mullioned windows.
Attached to the farmhouse is a boundary wall made of coursed squared blocks, which has a saddleback coping that is stepped, with curved copings as risers. There is a central gateway with plain gateposts and a cast iron gate. Additionally, cast iron railings are present on the wall north of the gateway, topped with urn finials.
