Description
The boundary wall and two pairs of gate piers at Wingfield House date from the 18th century. The boundary wall is approximately 70 metres long along the eastern boundary and is constructed of squared coursed sandstone, standing between 1.5 to 2 metres high. It is stepped back at the lower end and features a half round coping.
There are two pairs of gate piers; one pair serves a domestic entrance and consists of square section ashlar piers with projecting bands that connect the piers to the boundary wall. These piers have a projecting moulded cap topped with banded ball finials on pedestals, and there is a planked and studded door. The second pair of gate piers, which are partially demolished, flank the drive leading to the stables at the north end of the boundary wall.
