Description
This is a farm outbuilding, formerly a cowhouse, located to the south-west of Hardwick Farmhouse. It dates from the 18th century and has some alterations from the 20th century. The building is constructed from coursed squared rubble gritstone, featuring plain dressings, quoins, plain gables, and a roof covered with stone slates. The east elevation is two storeys high and has five bays. There are doorways, two of which have massive quoined surrounds beneath plain lintels, while the third is an inserted opening. The doors are plain planked stable doors. There are three windows, two of which are in blocked inserted door openings and have 19th-century window frames. The upper three bays have a paved threshold. At the south end, there is an offshut with a roof made of corrugated sheeting. The building is listed for its group value.
