Description
Sheeplea House Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse that has undergone some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed from regularly coursed gritstone with ashlar dressings, featuring quoins, coped gables with plain kneelers, gable ashlar stacks, and a stone slated roof. The house is designed in an L-shape, with the south elevation comprising two storeys and three bays. The central doorway is framed by a massive surround and lintel, leading to a four-panel door with the upper two panels glazed. On either side of the doorway are stacked two-light flush-mullioned windows, which have 20th-century casement frames without glazing bars. The ground-floor windows are taller than those on the first floor. The west gable includes an 18th-century doorway at the north-west corner, which has a glazed opening, and an inserted two-light window above. A gabled crosswing extends to the north, featuring a massive door surround at the junction of the two ranges, along with one unaltered two-light flush-mullioned window on the first floor.
