Description

Dr Bland's Almshouses are a pair of almshouses built in 1910 for Dr Bland. They are constructed from brown brick with stone dressings and feature a hipped plain tile roof with overhanging bell canted eaves. The building has external side wall brick stacks with stone banding and cornices. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with an advanced, gabled central bay.

A wide stone segmental arch spans the full width of the central bay and has a dentilled lower edge. Set back behind this arch are two original studded wooden doors, each with two small diamond-shaped lights. Above the arch is a flush stone plaque that reads 'Dr Bland's Almshouses. Erected 1910'. The bays on either side contain central 3-light chamfered mullion windows with leaded lights. Above these, there are two similar 2-light windows on either side and a central 4-light window. In the gable above, there are four decorative stone diamonds. The almshouses were originally built as a pair with Nos 115 and 117.
