Description
The bridge at Sandiacre Lock is a canal bridge built in 1779 by engineer John Varley, with some later repairs. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings. The bridge features a single segmental arch, primarily made of brick but with some stone repairs. The spandrels and parapets are plain brick, topped with chamfered stone copings. The walls splay out at each end and terminate in a brick pier that has a large stone coping. This bridge was built as part of the Erewash Canal and is included for its group value context.
