Description

This canal bridge, built in 1779 by engineer John Varley, is located on Bennett Street in Long Eaton. It is constructed of red brick and features stone copings. The bridge has a single segmental arch with plain brick spandrels and stone copings on the parapets. The walls of the bridge splay outwards and terminate in plain brick piers. It was built as part of the Erewash Canal and is included in the listing for its group value. The bridge was partly rebuilt in the 20th century.
