Description
The building is a school hall constructed in 1911 by G H Widdows, the architect for Derbyshire County Council. It is located to the southeast of Highfield Infant School in Long Eaton. The hall is made of brown brick, which is pebbledashed up to the sill height, and features stone and tile dressings. It has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with wide overhanging eaves and an external gable brick stack on the east side.
The structure is single storey and consists of three bays. The west elevation includes a low porch at the front, with a 5-light casement window above, set in a blind segment-headed recess that has a stone keyblock. On either side of the gable, there are kneeler-like projections adorned with three vertical stone bands. The north and south elevations each have three 3-light casement windows with two transoms. Additionally, the south elevation features a segment-headed doorcase with a plank door on the east side. All windows are small pane casements. This hall was built as part of a group with Highfield Infant and Junior School.
