Description

Hinchleywood is an early 19th-century house situated on Ashbourne Road in the parish of Mapleton. The house is rendered with sandstone dressings and has a hipped slate roof with ridge stacks and stacks in the pitch of the roof. It is two storeys high. The south elevation comprises a four-bay main block and a lower, four-bay wing to the east, constructed in the 20th century. A central doorway is sheltered by a broad, four-columned Tuscan Doric sandstone porch, featuring half-glazed double doors. This is flanked on each side by glazing bar sashes, with four smaller glazing bar sashes above. A stone parapet tops the elevation, with a later dormer window inserted into the roof. A semi-circular conservatory projects from the link between the main house and the later wing. The west elevation features a two-storey canted bay window.
