Description

The Homestead is an early 19th-century house located on Bright Street in the parish of North Wingfield. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings, and has a slate roof with stone coped gables, moulded kneelers, and stone gable end stacks. The east elevation has three bays. It features flush angle quoins and a projecting eaves band. The central doorway is defined by a moulded stone surround and dripmould, now with a 20th-century door. This is flanked on either side by windows featuring flush stone jambs, lintels, projecting sills, and plain sashes. Above the doorway is a round arched window with a stone surround featuring projecting impost blocks, and a plain sash. This window is also flanked by plain sashes in dressed stone surrounds. The west elevation includes a staircase window, which is a single light with a transom.
