Description

The Manor House is a house built around 1705, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone, partly covered in cement render, and features sandstone dressings. The roof is made of concrete tiles and has stone-coped gables with moulded kneelers. There are four stone gable end stacks and two ridge stacks, all of which have been truncated. The south side has a stone-coped parapet.

The house has two storeys and includes projecting cross wings on the east side. The east elevation features these wings, each with a blocked oval window surrounded by dressed stone at the gables. The left gable has two tall single-light windows with square-section stone surrounds. The central part of the east elevation is recessed and consists of five bays. On the right, there is a doorway with a moulded stone surround and a 19th-century panelled door. To the left of the doorway are two glazing bar sash windows in moulded surrounds, along with another doorway in a moulded surround that has 20th-century part-glazed double doors, and a further glazing bar sash window with a moulded stone surround. Above, there are five similar windows and a re-used datestone inscribed with "AD 1690/ NUMMO/ DEFICIENTE/ NE PLUS/ ULTRA," which loosely translates to "without more money we can't go further." The side walls of the cross wings have similar window arrangements. The west elevation was remodelled in the mid-19th century and features 2- and 3-light Gothic style windows.
