Description

18-19 Jordan Lane is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house located in Morningside, Edinburgh. The building features variegated sandstone, coursed and squared rubble on the front and rear with droved dressings, while the sides are made of rubble.

The front elevation has a plain doorway at the center, which includes a panelled door and a four-pane rectangular fanlight above it. There is a single window on the first floor above the door, and each outer bay has a single window on both the ground and first floors.

On the rear elevation, there are single windows in each bay and on each floor. A modern lean-to and a gabled conservatory span most of this elevation. Additionally, there are two rectangular slate-hung dormers with half-pitched roofs.

The east elevation is gabled with an apex stack and features a stone forestair with a substantial landing, a timber entrance porch, and trellis work. The west elevation is also gabled with an apex stack.

The house has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a slate roof with a lead ridge, complemented by two coped and rendered apex stacks.

Inside, the property was formerly subdivided but has now been returned to a single house. The exterior includes a tall pink rubble wall at the rear and side with flat coping, and a low wall at the front.
