Description
17, 17A Jordan Lane is an earlier 19th-century single-storey, three-bay cottage with a flat-roofed wing added around 1850 to the northwest. The building is constructed of cream sandstone, featuring coursed and squared rubble with droved dressings. It has a base course and an eaves cornice topped with a blocking course.
The north (front) elevation has a slightly advanced central bay that includes a panelled door and a rectangular fanlight with border glazing, leading to a tiled vestibule. There are single windows in the outer bays. To the right, there is a flat-roofed addition that is set at a right angle to the outer right, which has a single window on the return and a twice stepped wallhead stack to the north. A modern glazed porch is located in the re-entrant angle.
On the south (rear) elevation, there is an open timber verandah to the right, a secondary door with steps leading to the garden, and a single window to the left. The central section features a bipartite timber dormer.
The cottage has timber sash and case windows, some of which are 12-pane while others have plate glass glazing. The piended slate roof is fitted with lead flashings and has two rendered wallhead stacks, one to the east and one to the west.
The interior was not seen in 1992. Surrounding the cottage, there is a tall rubble wall at the rear and sides, a low wall at the front with later gates, and a swept boundary wall with a doorway to the east.
