16 Jordan Lane, Morningside, Edinburgh

16 Jordan Lane is an earlier 19th century single-storey and basement cottage with three bays. It is constructed from cream sandstone, featuring coursed and squared rubble with droved dressings on the front, while the rear and sides are made of squared and snecked rubble.

The front elevation has an entrance door at the center, which is accessed by a bridge with original cast-iron railings. The door is panelled and has a rectangular fanlight with border glazing. The outer bays contain windows at both the ground floor and basement levels.

The rear elevation is two-storey, with single windows in each bay at the basement and ground floor levels. There is a secondary door to the outer right and a small modern glazed extension in the center bay.

The cottage features 12-pane timber sash and case windows and has a slate roof with lead flashings, along with apex and mutual apex stacks.

Inside, there are fluted timber doorcases at the ground floor and plain cornices. The rear has a tall rubble wall with flat coping, while the front has a low wall with saddleback coping, and a taller portion at the boundary with No 15.
