Whitebank, 23 Jordan Lane, Morningside, Edinburgh

Whitebank is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan villa located at 23 Jordan Lane in Morningside, Edinburgh. The villa features a cream stugged ashlar front with droved dressings, while the rear and sides are constructed from coursed pink rubble. There is a cill band course above the ground floor and an eaves cornice.

The south (front) elevation has a central doorway framed by a polished ashlar pilastered doorpiece, which includes a frieze, cornice, and blocking course that bears a tablet. The door is panelled and topped with a rectangular fanlight consisting of three oval panes. There is a single window above this door on the first floor, with additional single windows in the outer bays on both the ground and first floors. The north (rear) elevation features single windows in each bay and on each floor, although the central window on the ground floor is blocked. The east and west elevations are blank, with tall rendered wallhead stacks located at the centre. There is a small lean-to outhouse on the east side.

The villa has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a piend roof covered with interlocking concrete tiles, along with two wallhead stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1992. The boundary walls consist of a tall rubble wall with flat coping that surrounds the front, rear, and sides, along with a pedestrian gateway and screen walls flanking the front elevation.
