Description
Nos. 7 and 9 Hounds Gate is a town house that has been converted into shops with offices above. It dates from the mid-18th century and has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of painted brick with painted ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with a gable stack. It has four storeys and a four-window range of plain sash windows. Above this, there are four similar windows, and above again, four smaller plain sash windows. All the windows have wedge lintels with double keystones. The ground floor includes two large 20th-century shopfronts with a doorway to the left.
