Description

Premier House is a building located on Wheeler Gate in Nottingham, constructed around 1900 and altered in the late 20th century. It is likely designed by John Howitt of Nottingham. The structure is made of red brick with ashlar dressings and features two ridge stacks and two gable stacks. The building has four and five storeys and a total of 17 windows arranged in a pattern of 2:2:2:2:1:2:2:2:2. Most of the windows are composite sashes with glazing bar upper lights, surrounded by stone with cornices, pediments, or keystones.

The facade is curved to follow the street line, with a central five-storey block flanked by two four-storey side ranges. The bays are marked by pilasters, and the entire building has an eaves cornice topped with an unpierced balustrade featuring urns. The ground floor includes a central doorway with a pediment, flanked by eight bays with shopfronts, all of which were altered in the late 20th century. The three bays to the right retain their original stone pilasters and brackets. Above the ground floor, there are three levels of windows arranged in regular courses, with the central fifth floor featuring a central window flanked by triple windows, all defined by Doric pilasters.
