Description
This is a shop, built in 1885-86 by Robert Evans of Nottingham for W E Swann. It was restored and altered internally in 1986. The building is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings, and has a roof that is not visible. It features two coped side wall stacks. It has sill bands, coped gables and parapets. The building is four storeys high, with a five-window range. The windows are mainly plain sashes with stone surrounds. The ground floor has a partly original wooden shopfront with a recessed central entrance flanked by splayed showcase windows. There are pilasters and brackets to a full-width cornice. The first and second floors feature a central mullioned window with a pediment, flanked by canted wooden bay windows, and then by smaller windows. Above this, a central window is flanked by larger windows under shouldered gables, with shaped panels above the windows. Single windows are located beyond. The interior was refitted in 1986.
