Description
The National Westminster Bank, built in 1878 by G.R. Isborn, is a bank located on South Parade in Nottingham. This building is constructed from yellow brick, featuring an ashlar front and dressings, along with a pink granite plinth. It is designed in the Italianate style, showcasing a rusticated ground floor with a dentillated cornice, a minor cornice, and a modillion main cornice adorned with a Greek Key frieze.
The front of the building is symmetrical, with projecting end bays that have quoins. It stands three storeys tall and has a seven-window range of plain sash windows with cornices. Above these, there are seven similar windows, all of which have moulded architraves. The ground floor includes five larger fixed lights, with a portico featuring paired Doric columns on the right and a doorway with a cornice on scroll brackets on the left, which leads to two six-panel double doors. The left return of the building is two storeys high and has an eight-window range, with a stone doorcase on the left. The interior was refitted in the late 20th century.
