Description

This is a late 18th-century town house, later altered in the late 19th and 20th centuries, located on Castle Gate in Nottingham. It now serves as shops and offices, and is accompanied by an attached former lace factory at the rear. The building is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and a slate roof punctuated by two brick gable stacks. A moulded wooden eaves cornice runs along the top. The building is four storeys high and has a six-window front. The upper windows are plain sashes. The upper floors contain six matching sashes, and above that, six nine-pane sashes. All windows are topped with brick flat arches. The ground floor features a central six-panel door with a fanlight, flanked to the left by a similar door, and to the right by a cart opening, followed by an altered late 19th-century shopfront.
