Description
Numbers 27 and 29, along with their attached railings, are a pair of houses built around 1851. They are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with stone details and feature a slate roof and cast-iron area railings. The buildings rise three storeys over a basement, with each house having three first-floor windows and an original entrance on the left, though access is now blocked due to the removal of steps. The entrances consist of half-glazed four-panel doors with an overlight, set within a stone surround that includes pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment.
The windows have stone sills, with continuous sill bands on the first and second floors, and are topped with rubbed brick lintels. Number 27 (on the left) features plate-glass and four-pane sashes, while Number 29 has glazing bars. The houses also have a stone moulded eaves cornice, a hipped roof, and a central chimney stack.
The railings are notable for their moulded standards with bulbous finials, and the rails are decorated with pierced spearhead finials. The interior has not been inspected.
