Description
Weavers Cottage is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It is dated 1709 above the rear door and has been altered over time. The building is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features quoins and a stone slate roof. It has a two-unit plan, stands two storeys high, and consists of three bays.
In the centre, there is a doorway (for No. 4) that has been inserted into the left half of what was originally a 4-light recessed-mullion window, with the third mullion also removed. To the left of this doorway is a 4-light window with recessed chamfered mullions, and to the right is a similar 2-light window that has been restored. All these openings are topped with moulded cornices. On the first floor, there are similar windows with 4, 4, and 2 lights. The left gable features coping with kneelers, and there are chimneys at this gable and at the junction with No. 2 to the right.
The rear of the building has different openings, including coupled doorways in the centre with plain surrounds. Above the left door is a datestone with raised lettering that reads "A R S 1709." There are two 3-light windows on each floor, all with recessed flat-faced mullions and raised surrounds with cornices. The interior of No. 6 has been altered, while No. 4 was not inspected.
