Description

High Ridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the late 17th century, with a rear wing that has a lintel dated 1626 from a former doorway, indicating its historical significance. The building is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features a slate roof.

The farmhouse is designed in a T-plan, consisting of a two-unit front range with a rear wing. The almost symmetrical facade is two stories high and has two bays. It includes a continuous drip mould, a doorway that is slightly offset to the right of the center with a stop-chamfered surround and a shaped lintel, which is now covered by a modern glazed porch. There is a blocked former doorway at the left end with a chamfered surround, and vertical joints at the right-hand end suggest the position of another former doorway. The facade has two windows on each floor, which were likely originally four-light windows with double-chamfered surrounds and chamfered mullions. However, the left window on the ground floor has been altered, and the others are missing their first and third mullions, with the right ground floor window having a lowered sill.

The building features gable chimneys and gable copings with kneelers. The single-storey rear wing has a Tudor-arched former doorway that has been altered into a window, with the lintel displaying raised lettering that reads "1626". Inside No. 75, which is the right-hand half of the building, there are some stop-chamfered beams.
