Description

Creskeld Hall is a large house with various construction phases, primarily from the 19th century, but it has a core that may date back to the late medieval period, particularly the kitchen wing and chapel, which have been significantly altered. The building has an irregular layout surrounding a small courtyard, with the kitchen wing on the west side and the former chapel on the north side. It is two storeys high, and the entrance front features a 19th-century two-storey porch in Jacobean style, which includes a cross-window above the door, gable coping with a ball finial, and kneelers. The rest of the exterior is less notable.

Inside the kitchen wing, there is a large kitchen with massive stop-chamfered lateral beams, slightly smaller secondary beams that are similar, and stop-chamfered joists. It also has a large projecting chimney breast with a chamfered segmental-headed fireplace, and an inserted panelled partition wall that is likely from the 19th century. The former chapel has been altered to serve as a billiard room and is now of less interest.

Historically, in 1240, Hugo de Creskeld granted the manor to the Abbots of Kirkstall. The building was previously known as "Kirkskill Hall."
