Description
The Methodist Church, dated 1895 on the foundation stones, is built from coursed squared sandstone and features a slate roof in the Gothic style. The church includes a nave with a south-east tower, short transepts, and a chancel. The gable facing the road has a large west window consisting of four arched lights with multifoil tracery at the top, set under a hoodmould with carved stops. Below this window are four small cusped windows and a small buttress in the center. The left corner has angle-buttresses that terminate in an octagonal pinnacle, while to the right, the three-stage tower features angle buttresses that also end in pinnacles. This tower has a two-centred-arched doorway with a moulded head and shafts topped with foliated caps beneath annular imposts. The second stage of the tower has two lancet windows, and the octagonal third stage, clasped between the pinnacles, includes a lancet with a quatrefoil at the top and an octagonal spire. The two-bay nave has arched windows with two arched lights and multifoils in the head, while the transepts have similar four-light windows, and the chancel features a matching east window. The interior is of less interest, and later additions to the rear are not included in this listing.
