BRAMHOPE EASTGATE SE 24 SE LS 16 (north side) 6/102 Methodist Church 30.4.1982 - II

Methodist Church. Dated 1895 on foundation stones. Coursed squared sandstone, slate roof. Gothic style. Nave with south-east tower, short transepts and chancel. Gable to road has a large "west" window of 4 arched lights with multifoil tracery in the head, under a hoodmould with carved stops; below this window, 4 small cusped windows and a small buttress in the centre; angle-buttresses to the left corner, terminating as an octagonal pinnacle; to the right, 3-stage tower with angle buttresses terminating with pinnacles, has 2-centred-arched doorway with moulded head and shafts with foilated caps below annular imposts to the head; 2 lancets to the 2nd stage; octagonal 3rd stage, clasped between the pinnacles, has a lancet with a quatrefoil in the head; octagonal spire. Two-bay nave has arched windows of 2 arched lights with multifoils in the head; transepts have similar 4-light windows, chancel has matching "east" window. Interior of less interest. (Later additions to rear not included in the item).
