Description
Ridgeway Cottage is a mid-19th century coach house and stables, which may have also served as a bothy, and is now used as a house and garage. The building is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with ashlar details and has a slate roof. It stands two storeys high and features five bays, with the central bay having a pedimented gable that projects forward. The structure has a plinth and a central cambered arch with original double doors that have L-hinges. To the left, there are inserted garage doors, while to the right, there is a 16-pane sash window and a narrow door, both topped with plain stone lintels. The first floor has 9-pane uneven sashes, with slightly recessed apron blocks beneath. Additional architectural features include a first-floor band, a deep eaves cornice, a shallow blocking course, and rendered stacks on either side of the central bay. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included for its group value with Ridgeway House.
