Description

This is a late 18th-century coach house, now used as garages with a flat above. It is constructed of coursed rubble sandstone with dressed stone dressings, and has a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high and originally had three bays, with a single bay added to the right, which is slightly recessed. The front has a dressed stone plinth and quoins to the main three-bay block and the right-hand bay. Each bay originally featured a dressed stone round arch with keystones and a continuous impost band; the fourth arch is smaller and without a keystone, and all have board-leaved doors with boarded tympana below. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows in dressed stone surrounds. A moulded cornice and coping form a pediment over the main three-bay section. The roof is hipped to the right. Stacks are located at each end of the main three-bay block. A cobbled area in front of the coach house contributes to its traditional setting.
