Description
Lane Side Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with quoins that are now strap-pointed, topped with a stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular double-depth plan, stands two storeys high, and features two bays. The symmetrical central doorway has a plain surround and a recessed panelled door. There are two 3-light windows on each floor, all with flat-faced flush mullions and plain surrounds. The farmhouse has gable chimneys and gable copings with kneelers. The left gable wall includes a blocked doorway at the first floor, possibly a taking-in door, while the rear has 2-light windows similar to those at the front.
Inside, a central passage has been created by inserting a partition wall into what was once a larger principal room on the left. The interior features fielded panel doors and a chamfered oak beam in the rear service rooms.
