Description

AIREBOROUGH HOLLINS HILL SE 14 SE LS 20 (west side, off) Guiseley 4/57 Hawkstone Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse. Dated 1726 above porch. Coursed squared sandstone with quoins, stone slate roof. L-shaped: double-depth 4-room house with outshut to rear of left half. Two storeys and 2 bays, almost symmetrical; prominent single- storey porch-cum-outhouse (an addition) with small window in gable wall and doorway in left side wall, protecting inner doorway with chamfered surround and shaped lintel; two 4-light windows on each floor, all with square flush mullions and raised surrounds; in centre of 1st floor, above porch, a datestone with large inscriptions "1726" (partly concealed by creeper), and above this an inserted 2-light window. Gable chimneys, gable copings with kneelers. Rear: built against rising slope, the outshut built into this, back door opening into the area beside it, and 3-light window above the door.

Interior: chamfered beams; housebody in front left room has rectangular fireplace with chamfered surround. Item is good example of its date and type.
