Description
Mansion House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1755, now functioning as a house. It is constructed from watershot coursed sandstone and features a tile roof with one ridge chimney and another at the junction with an altered barn to the left. The building has a double depth, 2-bay plan with a projecting porch at the center and a short outshut at the rear of the first bay.
It stands two storeys high and has a symmetrical facade. The 2-storey gabled porch includes quoins, gable copings, and kneelers. The porch has a doorway with plain jambs and a large rectangular lintel. Above the doorway is a 2-light first-floor casement window with an extended head and sill. Between the door and the window is a square date stone featuring raised decoration in the shape of a scrolled shield, with a child's head at the top and incised lettering that reads "C H A 1755".
There are two windows on each floor; the left windows are slightly irregular 3-light windows with square flush mullions and extended sills and heads, while the right windows have been altered, with the lower window lengthened downwards. The rear of the building has mostly been altered, but the openings either retain their original shape and size or are compatible with the original design.
Inside, a thorough renovation was in progress in 1984. The second bay contains a vaulted cellar with a blocked 2-light mullioned window at the front, keeping stone, and stone cupboards.
