Description

This is an 18th-century house, possibly originally designed as a pair of cottages, located in Haslingden. The building is constructed of watershot coursed sandstone with a stone slate roof, featuring a chimney on the ridge and another on the left gable. The design follows a double-depth two-bay plan, with an outshut extending from the second bay. The house is two storeys high. Altered masonry in the centre of the front wall suggests a former doorway’s position; it now has two windows on each floor, each with two lights, square flush mullions, extended sills, and heads. A plain doorway provides access to the rear of the left gable wall. A further doorway is located on the first floor to the left of this, alongside a small ground-floor window, two similar first-floor windows and a two-light mullioned window in the attic; the left light retains original diamond lattice glazing while the other is blocked. Additional small windows are present on the rear elevation, within the outshut.
