Description

The gate piers at the east entrance to Hawksworth Hall are a pair of structures likely built in the early 18th century. They are made of sandstone ashlar and have a square section that is approximately half a metre wide and two metres high. The piers are rusticated and feature chamfered plinths and moulded caps. Each pier has two-stage conical pedestals that support urn finials, which may have been added later. Additionally, there are scrolled brackets on the inner sides of the piers.
